The Maryland Department of Health confirmed the state's first case of a locally acquired strain of malaria in more than 40 years on Friday.

R.D. Call, a Utah native who was a familiar face playing cops and killers in dozens of movies and TV shows, has died. Call died Feb. 27, in Layton, from complications after back surgery, his family announced. He was 70.
