While the Utah Jazz sat out of Thursday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, just as the rest of the NBA did the day before, they heard the criticism. They heard fans who didn’t understand what they were doing it for. They heard the fans who said it wouldn’t bring about change. They heard the fans that said that they were making mountains out of molehills, or that Jacob Blake’s shooting was justified. Donovan Mitchell has a message for those people. “If I show my driver’s license, I may get out of a ticket. Park City • Rock star Dan Reynolds was once a Mormon missionary, and in a documentary that premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, he declares a new mission: to urge leaders of his faith to stop shaming their LGBT members. “A determined Mormon is a scary thing, I can tell you that, because they don’t stop,” Reynolds, singer for the band Imagine Dragons, declares in “Believer,” a documentary that received a standing ovation from some 500 Sundance attendees at its first screening late Saturday night. The movie will receive a broader audience this summer, director Don Argott told the audience after the film. “Believer” was picked up before the festival by HBO Documentary Films, with plans for a theatrical release this summer and a debut on HBO after that.
