Andrey Tkachenko — wanted by the Metro Gang Unit and U.S. Marshals’ Violent Fugitive Apprehension Team — was shot and killed during a downtown confrontation on Oct. 18, 2018. According to Unified police, as officers confronted Andrey Tkachenko, one UPD officer and one Saratoga Springs officer opened fire, hitting him. He died en route to a local hospital.
Andrey Tkachenko’s death was one of 19 at the hands of police in Utah, and the state’s attorney general’s office has launched an investigation into why so many people were killed.
Darin Thomas at his Roosevelt home on May 14. Thomas remains ostracized in his community after charges of attempted child sexual assault and a misdemeanor count of agreeing to pay for sex were dismissed.
